What it means to be an SDG Champion: KORE Group's journey towards sustainable impact
Joining a select group driving Ireland's sustainable future
As one of just 19 organisations selected to Ireland's Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Champions Programme, KORE Group is proud to be contributing to a national movement focused on creating a more sustainable, inclusive and resilient future. Through innovation in manufacturing, leadership in retrofit, investment in community wellbeing and a commitment to transparency, we are embedding the principles of sustainable development across every area of our business.
Our involvement in the SDG Champions Programme is not simply about recognition. It is about using our platform to demonstrate how businesses can create positive environmental and social impact while supporting Ireland's transition to a low-carbon economy.
Sustainability with purpose
Whether improving Ireland's housing stock through energy-efficient retrofit solutions, manufacturing innovative insulation products, investing in employee wellbeing or supporting local communities, our sustainability strategy is built around creating lasting and measurable impact.
Central to this approach is KORE Croí, our corporate social responsibility programme, which supports community engagement, wellbeing, education and inclusion initiatives throughout Ireland. The programme reflects our belief that sustainable development is ultimately about people as much as it is about the environment.
Through KORE Croí, we actively support several Sustainable Development Goals, including Good Health and Wellbeing, Quality Education, Gender Equality, Reduced Inequalities and Partnerships for the Goals. By working closely with charities, educational institutions, local organisations and industry partners, we can maximise the positive impact of our efforts and strengthen the communities in which we live and work.
Helping deliver warmer, more efficient homes
Across Ireland, KORE Retrofit continues to help homeowners and communities reduce energy consumption, lower heating costs and improve comfort through high-quality energy upgrade solutions. As Ireland's first registered One Stop Shop provider, KORE has supported thousands of households on their journey towards greater energy efficiency while helping address fuel poverty and reduce carbon emissions.
This work directly contributes to several Sustainable Development Goals, including Affordable and Clean Energy, Sustainable Cities and Communities, Responsible Consumption and Production and Climate Action.
Innovation supporting a low-carbon future
Innovation remains a key driver of KORE Group's sustainability journey. Through KORE Insulation, we manufacture Irish-made EPS insulation products that are fully recyclable* and designed to support energy-efficient construction and retrofit projects nationwide.
Our commitment to transparency and continuous improvement has also seen KORE achieve several industry-leading milestones, including becoming the first EPS manufacturer in Ireland to provide Environmental Product Declarations across its full product range, achieving ISO 50001 Energy Management Certification and establishing a certified pathway to net zero.
More recently, KORE became the first Irish organisation to publish a comprehensive VSME Sustainability Report independently verified by EcoVerify, demonstrating our commitment to accountability, transparency and measurable ESG progress.
Investing in people, communities and future talent
The SDGs extend beyond environmental action and place equal importance on building healthier, more inclusive and resilient communities. At KORE, our people remain at the centre of everything we do. Initiatives such as our annual Wellness Week promote physical health, mental wellbeing, inclusion and employee engagement, helping create a workplace culture where people can thrive.
We are also committed to supporting education, skills development and industry innovation through CPD programmes, partnerships with schools and universities, and research collaborations such as the EU-funded Arec Reno Project. By sharing knowledge and supporting future talent, we are helping strengthen Ireland's transition to a low-carbon economy.
Turning ambition into action
The Sustainable Development Goals provide a shared framework for addressing some of the most significant challenges facing society, from climate action and sustainable housing to education, wellbeing and inclusion.
As an SDG Champion, KORE Group is committed to demonstrating how purposeful business can drive meaningful progress. Through our work in retrofit, manufacturing, community engagement, employee wellbeing and industry education, we continue to support a more sustainable future while encouraging collaboration across the sectors and communities we serve.
Being one of just 19 organisations in Ireland selected for the programme is a responsibility we value. It reinforces our commitment to leading by example, sharing knowledge and continuing to deliver lasting impact for people, places and the planet.
