UN Sustainable Development Goals in Action: KORE Marks Climate Action Week

12th of October 2026

This Climate Action Week, KORE Retrofit is celebrating one of the most practical climate actions there is: making Ireland's homes warmer, cheaper to heat and lower in carbon.

We're marking the week in collaboration with Climate Action Week Ireland, joining organisations across the country in turning climate commitments into action.

KORE Group is one of just 19 organisations selected for Ireland's Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Champions Programme. We see that as a responsibility to show how business can drive real progress, and nowhere is that clearer than in the homes we help upgrade.

Ireland's first registered One Stop Shop

As Ireland's first registered One Stop Shop provider, KORE Retrofit has supported thousands of households on their journey to a more energy-efficient home. We guide homeowners through the whole upgrade, so getting it done is simpler.

Every retrofit delivers on several fronts at once:

  • Lower emissions: less energy used means less carbon released.

  • Lower bills: an efficient home costs less to heat.

  • More comfort: warmer rooms and a healthier place to live.

  • Less fuel poverty: affordable warmth for households that struggle to heat their homes.

Retrofit through the lens of the SDGs

The UN Sustainable Development Goals give everyone a shared way to measure progress. As an SDG Champion, we look at our retrofit work through that lens. Here is where every home energy upgrade makes a difference:

  • SDG 13 Climate Action: less energy used in every home we upgrade means lower carbon emissions for Ireland.

  • SDG 7 Affordable and Clean Energy: efficient homes need less energy, making warmth more affordable.

  • SDG 11 Sustainable Cities and Communities: improving Ireland's housing stock creates warmer, more resilient communities.

  • SDG 12 Responsible Consumption and Production: cutting wasted energy makes better use of the resources we have.

  • SDG 10 Reduced Inequalities: tackling fuel poverty helps make sure no household is left out in the cold.

  • SDG 3 Good Health and Wellbeing: warmer, more comfortable homes are healthier places to live.

  • SDG 17 Partnerships for the Goals: we work with partners like Climate Action Week Ireland and the EU-funded Arec Reno Project, because no one reaches these goals alone.

Beyond the home

We also invest in the knowledge and communities that retrofit depends on. Through research collaborations such as the EU-funded Arec Reno Project, we help develop better ways to renovate Ireland's building stock.

Through KORE Croí, our corporate social responsibility programme, we work with charities, schools and local organisations to strengthen the communities we serve. And we back our commitments with evidence: KORE became the first Irish organisation to publish a comprehensive VSME Sustainability Report independently verified by EcoVerify.

Make this your climate action

Climate action does not have to start somewhere far away. It can start at home. If you have been thinking about upgrading, this Climate Action Week is a good time to take the first step.
