A Circular Approach to Retrofitting: Tuath Housing and KORE Retrofit to Present at ISHF 2025

Date: Friday, 6 June 2025
Time: 11:00 AM
Location: Research Stage, Convention Centre Dublin
Event: International Social Housing Festival (ISHF) 2025

Tuath Housing, in collaboration with KORE Retrofit, is proud to present the Circular Reno project at this year’s International Social Housing Festival (ISHF) in Dublin. The seminar, titled “A Circular Approach to Retrofitting,” will delve into how modular, bio-based materials are transforming deep energy retrofits for social housing across Europe.

About the Circular Reno Project

Circular Reno is an EU-funded initiative under the Interreg North-West Europe programme. The project is focused on the development of modular, bio-based construction materials made from renewable crops such as straw, miscanthus, and hemp. These innovative materials are designed specifically for deep energy retrofits in social housing, reducing carbon emissions and promoting a more circular construction economy.

Seminar Highlights

The session will offer a comprehensive look into the Circular Reno project through:

  • A project background and its core sustainability objectives

  • Development of supply chains for bio-based retrofit materials

  • Lessons from pilot retrofit projects

  • A powerful resident testimonial video

  • A hands-on “show and tell” display featuring the actual materials used

Wider Impact on Europe

Circular Reno isn’t just a pilot—it’s a movement. The project seeks to retrofit 88 homes across Ireland, the Netherlands, France, and Germany, building value chains that link farmers, prefab manufacturers, contractors, and housing bodies. The goal? To demonstrate that sustainable, circular construction is not only feasible—but scalable.
