KORE Group marks 10 years of sustainability progress with new report

Kilnaleck, Co. Cavan, 6th of October 2026.

KORE Group has published its 10-Year Sustainability Journey and Impact Report, covering 1 January 2015 to 31 December 2025. It shows KORE Insulation grew raw material throughput by 52% between 2021 and 2025, while the energy needed to make each kilogramme of product fell by 8%.

The report covers both Group businesses: KORE Insulation, the EPS insulation manufacturer founded in Kilnaleck in 1997, and KORE Retrofit, its SEAI-registered One Stop Shop retrofit business. It is a narrative companion to KORE Group’s 2025 VSME Sustainability Report, which was independently verified by EcoVerify.

How did KORE grow output while cutting energy per kilogramme?

Facility energy use rose from 4.7 million kWh to 7.1 million kWh to support higher production. Over the same period, energy per kilogramme (EnPI) improved from 1.267 to 1.165 kWh/kg.

The gains came from a decade of factory investment: a new expander machine, a granulation plant, two phases of solar PV and the SEAI Exceed Programme completed in 2025. Heat recovery from the moulding process now saves 561,230 kWh a year, according to ISO 50001 energy monitoring.

What has KORE done about waste?

All 306,940 kg of waste generated at KORE Insulation in 2025 was diverted from landfill. Across 2023 and 2024, 445 tonnes of material went to recycling, including 256 tonnes of EPS.

What is KORE Retrofit’s Net Zero Pathway?

KORE Insulation’s Net Zero Pathway covers Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions against a 2021 baseline, with a Net Zero target of 2050. It was validated under ISO 14068-1:2023 and verified by EcoVerify in 2024. A pathway for KORE Retrofit is due in Q4 2026.

The report is also clear about the harder part. Scope 3 emissions, mainly from raw material EPS bead and end-of-life treatment of sold products, make up 93 to 94% of KORE Insulation’s total inventory. To address this, KORE has set a target of 40% bio-naphtha feedstock by 2035 and 100% by 2050.

Which KORE products have lower embodied carbon?

The KORE Insulated Foundation System has 31.5% lower embodied carbon than traditional foundations, based on its verified Environmental Product Declaration (EPD). It holds NSAI Agrément 20/0424 and BBA Certificate 24/7229. KORE Low Carbon EPS is certified under REDcert2 using a biomass-balance approach.

What does the report say about people and safety?

KORE Group had 104 direct employees in 2025: 72 at KORE Insulation and 32 at KORE Retrofit. The Group recorded zero fatal accidents across the years for which records are held. KORE also runs 50+ CPD events a year through the KORE Academy and has 200+ approved contractor firms nationwide.

What does KORE’s leadership say?

Caroline Ashe Brady, Commercial and Sustainability Director, KORE Group, said:

“A credible sustainability report must hold both truths at the same time. It should neither understate the benefits of better building fabric nor minimise the environmental impacts associated with manufacturing and delivery.

Ten years ago, sustainability at KORE was less formally measured than it is today. Looking to 2030, our priorities are to improve data quality, strengthen verification, reduce the carbon intensity of our products and operations, and address the Scope 3 challenges linked to raw materials and product end of life.”
