An SEAI One Stop Shop gets you a warmer, more comfortable home without managing the retrofit yourself: 1 team designs the upgrade, brings in vetted contractors, checks the quality at 4 points and handles your grant. With KORE Retrofit, an SEAI registered One Stop Shop since 2022, you only pay the Net of Grant amount, so you never pay the full cost and wait for the grant to come back.
For homeowners planning a whole-home upgrade who want to know what a One Stop Shop really does for them.
The grants are usually what people think about when considering a retrofit. What holds them back is everything else: the disruption, who to trust, whether it will pay back, and the risk most people never think to ask about, which is getting the building itself wrong. A One Stop Shop is there to take care of all of it. Here are the questions worth asking before you start.
| What’s involved | On your own | With KORE Retrofit |
|---|---|---|
| Working out what the house needs | You decide, measure by measure | A Home Energy Assessment and a whole-house design |
| Finding the contractors | You find and vet them | Contractors from our vetted network |
| Checking the work | You rely on each contractor | 4 quality checks on every jobAdditional quality checks or site visits can be arranged if required |
| The grant paperwork | You apply and claim | We handle it |
| The grant itself | You pay first and claim it back | We take it off your bill up front |
| If the work fails inspection | The risk is yours | We carry the loss |
Will the upgrade be right for my house?
A retrofit is only as good as the thinking behind it, so this is where we start.
Every KORE Retrofit job begins with a bespoke retrofit design a design by an expert, built around what your house actually needs. We fix the shell of the house first (the walls, roof, floors and windows), so your heating isn’t working against a house that leaks heat.
Who does the work, and who checks it?
Contractors from our vetted network do the work. KORE checks it at 4 points on every job.
Before a job starts, every contractor is onboarded, so each one knows the design and how their part fits with everyone else’s. Then the checks run all the way through:
Before anything goes to site: a design review and compliance check.
Before work starts: a pre-start meeting with the contractors.
While the work is under way: a mid-works quality check.
When the work is complete: a final quality check.
Because we check as the work goes, problems are caught while they’re still easy to put right.
What happens if the work fails inspection?
We carry the loss, not you.
You only pay the Net of Grant amount. In simple terms, your SEAI grant is deducted upfront, so you don’t have to pay the full cost and wait to get the grant back. We cover the grant amount and ensure all works meet SEAI’s required standards before the grant is paid to us.
It’s also why we check the work all the way through. We have every reason to get it right first time.
Who handles the grant and the paperwork?
We do. The grant application, the documents and the sign-off at each stage are all part of our grant administration and quality service.
You won’t be chasing an assessor, a designer, several contractors and the grant separately. You deal with 1 team and 1 point of contact, from the first assessment to the final check.
Will I know the cost before I commit?
Yes. Before you sign, you’ll see the price of the works, the grant you’re eligible for and what you’ll pay, with the grant already taken off.
Grant amounts and rules change, so check the current figures on SEAI’s home energy grants page.
Why KORE Retrofit
A One Stop Shop is about more than the grant. It’s how your retrofit gets done properly: a whole-house design built around your home, vetted contractors who know the plan, quality checked at 4 points along the way, and your grant and paperwork handled for you. You’ll know your costs before you sign, you only pay the Net of Grant amount, and if the work doesn’t pass inspection, the risk sits with us, not you. KORE Retrofit has been upgrading Irish homes since 2014 and has been an SEAI registered One Stop Shop since 2022. We’re part of The KORE Group, a family run business in Kilnaleck, Co. Cavan, so you’ll always deal with people who know your job and stand over the work, with one aim in mind: a warmer, more comfortable home.
