People of KORE | Ian Armitage Project Manager

At KORE Retrofit, our success is driven by the expertise and dedication of our people those who bring technical excellence, collaboration, and care to every project. This month, we’re delighted to introduce Ian Armitage, one of our experienced Project Managers, whose hands-on background in construction and passion for sustainable building continue to play a key role in delivering high-quality retrofit solutions across Ireland.

A Background Built on Construction and Energy Efficiency

Ian’s career has always been rooted in the construction industry. He began in the drylining sector, where he gained valuable, practical experience delivering projects from planning through to completion. Over time, Ian developed a strong interest in energy efficiency and sustainable building practices, which naturally led him into the retrofit space and project management.

“I enjoy combining technical knowledge with organisational skills to make sure projects run smoothly and achieve the best results for clients.”

Since joining KORE Retrofit in January 2022, Ian has become a key member of the team bringing a steady, solutions-focused approach to each project he manages. Working closely with technical assessors, contractors, and other project managers, Ian ensures that every retrofit is delivered to the highest standard of quality, safety, and performance.

“It’s a very collaborative environment, where everyone works in sync to deliver successful retrofit projects”

With over 30 years of experience in construction, Ian brings deep knowledge of project delivery, compliance, and building energy performance. His professional training includes External Wall Insulation Installation, Passive House Tradesperson Certification, Heat Pump Installation, and Retrofitting of Historical Buildings giving him the expertise needed to manage complex retrofit projects while maintaining full compliance with technical and regulatory standards.

A Day in the Life at KORE Retrofit

In his role as Project Manager, Ian oversees retrofit projects from start to finish coordinating contractors, scheduling works, reviewing plans, conducting site visits, and managing compliance documentation. Every day brings a new challenge, and Ian thrives on the problem-solving that comes with finding tailored solutions for each property.

“Every property is different, and finding the right technical solution is both challenging and rewarding. My favourite part is seeing projects completed and knowing the solutions we delivered are making homes warmer, healthier, and more energy-efficient.”

Ian’s approach to project management is built on clear communication and strong relationships. He ensures homeowners are informed at every stage of their energy upgrade journey and works closely with contractors to maintain efficiency, consistency, and high standards on site.

One recent highlight for Ian was managing a technically complex deep retrofit that required careful planning, coordination, and attention to detail. The project exceeded client expectations and demonstrated the exceptional quality of work the KORE Retrofit team is known for.

Ian also takes pride in having successfully delivered over 400 retrofit projects in a single year, achieving measurable improvements in energy performance and compliance across the board.

“Looking ahead, I’d like to continue developing innovative solutions to make projects even more efficient and scalable, supporting Ireland’s overall retrofit targets.”

When he’s not managing projects, Ian enjoys riding motorcycles and spending time outdoors. Staying active and working with his hands are both passions that align closely with his practical and technical mindset.

“The secret is there’s no secret,
Consistency over intensity, Progress over perfection,

Fundamentals over fads.”

These words reflect Ian’s steady, reliable approach. A reminder that success in retrofit, as in life, comes from commitment, consistency, and teamwork.
