Combine the One Stop Shop with the Vacant Property Refurbishment Grant

Did you know you can combine the One Stop Shop Grant Scheme with The Vacant Property Refurbishment Scheme? This scheme provides an additional funding amount of up to €50,000 to renovate a vacant property. The requirements include:

  • Homes built before 1993

  • Vacant for 2 years or more

  • A building that you own or in the process of buying it

  • You must reside in the home as your principle residence once the work is complete

  • You must have tax clearance from Revenue and your tax affairs must be in order

  • Local Property Tax must be paid

  • You have not received grant funding before

From 1st May 2023, the following requirements come into force:

  • Vacant properties built before 2007 (replaces vacant homes built before 1993)

  • People who want to rent our their property once they are refurbished (replaces the requirement for the home to be owner-occupied)

If the home is considered derelict, you can receive an additional €20,000 top up grant. To be considered derelict the home:

  • Must be on the Derelict Sites Register, or

  • Must be confirmed by the applicant to be derelict (i.e. structurally unsound and dangerous). If the home is not already on the Register, an independent report prepared by a qualified professional is required along with the application confirming the property is derelict.

KORE Retrofit does not administer the Vacant Property Refurbishment Scheme and you must apply separately for this scheme. However, once approved the grants can be combined to reduce your overall out of pocket costs.

Deep Retrofit in Enfield Co. Meath

Located in Enfield, Co Meath, this 1980's home was included in the 2020 KORE Better Energy Communities Scheme, part-funded by SEAI, to undergo energy efficient deep retrofit works.

This E1-Rated home had a primary energy rating of 327.99kWh/m2/yr, and 84.73 kg/CO2/m2/yr carbon dioxide emissions indicator.

The post works final results came in at 69.81 kWh/m2/yr for primary energy use and 15.99 kg/CO2/m2/yr for the carbon dioxide emissions indicator, resulting in an overall energy rating of A3.

Deep Retrofit in Tallaght, Co. Dublin

With a Pre-BER (Building Energy Rating) of G, and a post-BER rating of A3, this deep retrofit project included in the 2020 KORE Better Energy Communities Scheme is now a modern, energy efficient, comfortable and healthy home.

This G-Rated home had a primary energy rating of 494.19kWh/m2/yr, and 128.15 kg/CO2/m2/yr carbon dioxide emissions indicator.

The post works final results came in at 64.58 kWh/m2/yr for primary energy use and 10.74 kg/CO2/m2/yr for the carbon dioxide emissions indicator, resulting in an overall energy rating of A3. Post works heat loss indicator is 1.75 per m2.

We’re currently accepting applications for 2023. Act fast as space is limited. Please note that homeowners are required to achieve a minimum rating of B2 on work completion, with a 100kWh/m2/year or better improvement on the BER primary energy value, to participate. Cavity wall insulation & attic insulation upgrades are not subject to this requirement. Other terms and conditions apply.
